Writing a blog is so popular today that millions of blogs are being created every month.
So is this good?
The fact that your market will be the whole internet audience? Yes.
But (There’s always a but), that also means that your blog will be up against millions of other people doing similar things as you so because of that, you need to find ways to make your blog stand out from the rest.
Here’s some great tips to help you boost your blog performance and attract more traffic to your site:
1) Getting readers to look twice
There are millions of blogs posts that will be appearing in Google search all around so of course those readers won’t read all.
Instead, they will skim through and find the one that attracts them the most.
For example, like when you read a newspaper.
Do you read each and everyone one of those articles, or do you skim through and find something new and interesting and read that instead?
You would most definitely skim through because not everyone has the time to read all of those articles – it would take hours and plus, not all of them are interesting.
Making your blog post title exquisite and out of the ordinary will have a huge chance of getting readers to click on it because… it looks different.
For example, if you’re selling wine and on the shelf your competitors use similar brands such as “Rhône Valley” or “Southern Valley”, would you name your brand using the word “Valley” as well or would you use something entirely different like Blue Hippo Burgundy ?
Blue Hippo Burgundy will of course attract more attention because not only is it catchy, it shows that it is a fresh and innovative wine, which will make those buyers curious enough to try.
So the goal to bear in mind is to get that reader to look twice because when he does that, it means that you’ve got his attention already and after that, it all comes down to…
2) How interesting is your content?
So you managed to catch the readers’ attention which means now you are leading them to your next line of defense – the content!
Getting the reader’s attention is important because that is your opportunity to entice them even more.
If they are very interested with what your content has to offer, they will check other parts of your website and would also bookmark it so that they can visit it often.
Why is this important you ask?
It’s because when that happens, it means they trust you and if you are selling a product, you’ll have a huge chance of selling it too which can lead to one thing – $$$!
So how do you create an interesting and valuable content?
Well according to the Content Marketing Institute, there are 5 elements that you need to consider when writing your content and those are:
- Findable
- Readable
- Understandable
- Actionable
- Shareable
I have been using all these elements in my content writing and I can safely say that improving your content this way will definitely help you blog post get rankings in Google fast.
3) The perfect Call-to-action action opportunity
Finally, the moment of truth.
Your audience keeps increasing because your blog provides valuable information for free which creates trust enough for you to sell almost anything to them.
The most popular stuff to sell online are eBooks because they are relatively easy to make and if you write it yourself, you will have a higher chance of selling through your website as your audience knows and trust you.
Some people are scared to sell so in case you are, did you know that blogs have a higher chance of selling stuff online compared to company website?
This is because blogs create trust with the people as the content that you write has a very personal touch which buyers can relate to compared to corporate websites which is written by a “Salesman” which definitely sounds fishy to most buyers.
Conclusion
Blogs are wonders of the internet where most of the traffic in Google belongs to them as they are more personal and are written by “human persons” instead of “salesmen”.
This conveys trust with the readers which means that as long as take care of your blog posts and connect with the readers, you will also have a huge chance of making money from them too.

I didn’t know that blog sites have a higher chance of selling than corporate sites. That is interesting. Your argument regarding trust does make sense though.
I found your checklist to be a quite thorough and one worth putting on the wall in front of your desk for reference. 🙂
