With millions of websites being built today, the competition is tighter than ever for the online business industry.

However there still exists a way to overcomes all of this and reach those massive traffic which is by using keywords.

This is because understanding keywords does not only help you get past the competition and get your share of traffic, it also to boost your Search Engine Rankings (SEO) in order to make your website more visible in search engines.

To understand the keywords, let’s have a look at…

The 3 types of keywords

When you are doing your keyword research, it is important for you to choose the most relevant keywords for your business.

Basically, keywords can be categorized into 3 types, which are:

1)Too Hot Keywords

“Too Hot Keywords” are words like “florists”, “translation”, or “gifts”.

These types of keywords are too generic, which do not seem to be targeted enough to get conversions.

In simpler words, these keywords have massive amounts of traffic but they are also a very broad topic, perhaps too broad for beginners to target so it’s best to avoid these types of keywords.

2) Just Right Keywords

By optimizing those “Just Right” keywords, you can get more targeted traffic to your website and increase the chance of conversions.

In other words, they are more preferable and easier for us to target due to the low competition but they also have a significantly moderate amount of traffic.

However so, these keywords are better for SEO rankings because those people will be more likely to capture all those traffic in their category compared to the “Too Hot Keywords”

3) Too Cold Keywords.

As for “Too Cold Keywords”, they are usually long-tail key phrases like “corporate gifts for any event and budget”.

When SEO is done correctly, you will get traffic from the long tail phrases due to the overall targeted keyword theme.

So what do I mean by targeted keyword theme?

In order to achieve a targeted keyword theme, it really depends on the content that you put on your website.

Unique, informative and keyword targeted content is something that you need in order to succeed in SEO.

This is because long tail keywords usually take up 60% – 70% of overall organic traffic of a website and it is something every optimizer must capitalize on.

So when your website overall content revolves around a particular theme (for example: if you run a SEO consultancy firm, you should come up with articles that talk about SEO methodology, keyword selection and anything that you can think of with regards to SEO.)

Although the traffic from long tail are spilled-overs from page 3, 4 or 5 of the SERPs, these traffic are very targeted and may result in conversions.

The bad news is that an optimizer will not be able to predict what kinds of long tail keywords that searchers will use.

Therefore, long tail SEO can only be done by targeting the right keyword theme and creating relevant content.

When coming up with long tail content, just treat yourself as an educator.

Write informative articles to educate your target market about the product or service that you are providing.

In this case, you will be able to move your prospects that are in the research phase to the buying phase, which increases your chance of conversions.

So How to find keywords then?

Using a keyword research tool of course! (Also known as keyword planner)

There are many keyword planners that you can use these days but the most effective so far to date is Jaaxy.

I personally use Jaaxy as I find it very fast and efficient compared to the rest as when you search for keywords, you will have a huge table showing better keywords you can choose from in order to get more traffic with low competition.

It is designed to help internet marketers boost their website so I find it really effective when it comes to getting the work done.

Take a look at my Jaaxy results below…

Jaaxy search results

As you can see, I literally reduced my number of competitors by 50 just by adding one word from “Get your girlfriend back” to “Get your ex girlfriend back”.

Playing with these keywords are really fun and you should definitely give it a try here…

It can be really had for a new website to get noticed with all those competition but if you use keywords right, you website can appear more easily in Google and before you know it, you’ll get to the first page of Google in no time!
